Queensland Parliament Reshuffle
Following its convincing re-election on Saturday, the Beattie Labor Government in Queensland has today announced the allocation of Cabinet portfolios for the coming term.
With the resignation of Henry Palaszsuk and Tom Barton and the defeat of Chris Cummins, three vacancies in the Ministry have appeared in the wake of the election. In addition, Mike Reynolds will exchange his role as Minister for Child Safety for that of the Speaker.
Reflecting the Government’s priority for its fourth term, the Health portfolio will now include a greater focus on acute care and responsibility for implementing the $9.7 billion Health Action Plan. Non-acute elements of mental health and aged-care will be assumed by the expanded Communities portfolio.
The Premier has also identified infrastructure and the delivery of the water grid as key priorities.
