Parliamentary Sittings 2011
The Federal Parliament sitting schedule for 2011 has now been released.
The first sitting period for both Houses will commence on 8 February 2011. The Autumn sitting will consist of 3 weeks of joint sittings and one week where the House of Representatives only sits, and Additional Estimates is scheduled. Additional Estimates is scheduled for the week commencing 21 March 2011.
The Winter sitting period begins on Federal Budget Day: Tuesday, 10 May 2011. The Winter Sitting period will have a total of 14 joint sitting days, with a further 8 days of Budget Estimates for the Senate.
The Spring sittings commence from 16 August 2011, which is earlier than it was in 2010. CHOGM will be held in Perth in late October. Both Houses will sit until Thursday 24 November 2011, resulting in a total of 26 sitting days in the Spring sitting period, with a further 4 days of Budget Estimates for the Senate from 17 October 2011. The sitting schedule provides for a further 3 additional sitting days (28-30 November) if required.
