Michael Gleeson

Director

Michael Gleeson leads Hawker Britton’s government procurement and ICT practice.

He has enjoyed an extraordinary twenty six year career as a journalist, broadcaster, author and senior executive in both the private and public sectors.

He worked in the United States for five years in the mid 1990s as a foreign correspondent for both ABC TV in Washington DC and then the Seven Network in Los Angeles. During this time he covered the re-election of President Bill Clinton and the Oklahoma bombing as well as travelling to the UK to cover the funeral of Diana Princess of Wales in 1997. 

Michael returned to Australia in 1998 in a senior role in the office of the Tasmanian Premier, Jim Bacon, and on returning to Sydney in 2001, with NSW Premier, Bob Carr.

He also worked as an Executive Director of the NSW State Rail Authority (later Railcorp).

In recent years Michael has been an Executive Manager for the Commonwealth Bank during which time he represented the Bank on a range of industry-wide initiatives and a senior executive with Australian Wool Innovation.

Michael has an extensive network in the political and bureaucratic wings of the Federal Government.
