Director

Bevan has over twenty years experience as a corporate lawyer, ministerial adviser, and public affairs consultant.

 

Since joining Hawker Britton in 2000, Bevan has advised on reputation management for a national football code; a university, some large mining interests and a number of industry peak bodies. His work for the past few years has been primarily concerned with representing client interests to the Commonwealth Government.

 

Providing strategic advice and advocacy in public affairs campaigns, Bevan has represented clients in intellectual property matters, education, finance and mining. He has successfully represented the publishing industry over a number of years in its campaign to preserve territorial copyright. (See details here.)

 

He has developed crisis communications plans for key corporate and public sector clients and has also been engaged to conduct a number of policy and risk management reviews for the public sector.

 

In addition to his Arts and Law degrees, Bevan holds a Masters in Publishing from Sydney University and he has a particular interest in the debate concerning intellectual property for the creative industries.

 

Bevan served as chief of staff to both the Attorney General in the Goss Queensland Government and the Deputy Premier in the Beattie government. While working with Hawker Britton, Bevan worked as speech writer and adviser to former Northern Territory Chief Minister, Clare Martin, during her successful 2001 campaign.
