SA Premier Mike Rann has established a new ministerial portfolio of Water Security.
Karlene Maywald adds Water Security to her ministerial responsibilities, complementing her existing role as Minister for the River Murray.
In a unique collaboration Ms Maywald, National Member for Chaffey is one of two non-ALP members of the South Australian ministry.
The administration of SA Water was previously included in Michael Wright’s Government Enterprises portfolio.
Mr Wright recently supplemented his portfolio responsibilities becoming Minister for Finance in addition to Industrial Relations, Government Enterprises and Recreation, Sport and Racing
Ms Maywald will work in collaboration with the Minister for Environment and Conservation, Gail Gago in managing the environmental aspects of the state’s water resources.
Paul Caica, Minister for Employment, Training and Education, now takes on the additional portfolio of Science and Information Economy from Ms Maywald.
