Parliamentary Sittings 2010

The Parliamentary Sittings Calendar for 2010 was tabled in Federal Parliament by Minister Albanese on 22 October, 2009.

As in 2009, the first sitting period begins on the first Tuesday in February. The Autumn Sitting will consist of 4 weeks of joint sittings and one week where the House of Representative only sits, and Additional Estimates is scheduled.

The Winter Sitting period begins on Federal Budget Day, Tuesday 11 May, 2010.

The Winter Sitting period will have one less sitting day in 2010 to 2009, bringing the total number of sitting days to 18.

The return from the Winter recess will be on 24 August, which is slightly later in 2010 than was seen in 2009. This will mean that during the Spring sitting Parliament will sit on alternative fortnights until November 26.

There will be one less day of sitting during the Spring Sitting Period due to the newly gazetted “ACT Family & Community Day” – a public holiday being held in the ACT on 27 September 2010.
