New Secretary of NSW Treasury Confirmed

On March 2, NSW Treasurer Eric Roozendaal announced the appointment of Michael Schur as the new Secretary of NSW Treasury.

Mr Schur has been acting in the position since late last year and takes up the post immediately.

Mr Schur joined NSW Treasury in 2006 and was the Deputy Secretary, Office of Infrastructure Management. In this role, he had responsibility for private finance projects, physical asset management policy and the Government’s property portfolio.

Prior to joining the NSW Treasury in August 2006 he spent five years at the World Bank, advising governments in Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa on infrastructure reforms, focused primarily on the transport, water, health and electricity sectors.

Mr Schur has also worked as an advisor to the South African Ministry of Finance.

He has a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of London and post- and under-graduate degrees from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.
